Co-Directed by Amber Jullian and Nicole Klaymoon, Artistic Director of Embodiment Project, Seeds, ODC’s Teen Hip Hop Dance Company offers students the opportunity to delve deep into hip hop dance training and performance. Styles include popping, house, classic hip hop, waacking, and other street genres. With an emphasis on performance quality and originality, this teen company teaches students how to freestyle and perform choreography with confidence and passion. Two years of experience in hip hop dance is recommended to audition. Members will participate in the December Showcase (December 15, 2019), in the May Showcase (May 9, 2020) and in six performances of Uncertain Weather (May 16-18, 2020). Strict rehearsal and class attendance is required! Additional rehearsals and performances will be scheduled during the Spring Session (dates TBA).
We are pleased to offer a special scholarship opportunity for our Seeds students in 2019-20. ODC's Partner in Creativity, the Bi-Rite Family of Businesses, supports the tuition of one Seeds member and in addition, the scholarship recipient and their family will also receive a $500 gift card to shop at any Bi-Rite location during the school year. This need-based award requires an application and the student should be prepared to write a 250-word essay on the topic of how food and dance - together - have the potential to create connection and community. The application process will open once this year's company has been selected.
