And for some words from Derek:
"Wow.  2019 is being so good to me!

I’m writing from Northern California, where I’ve settled in to focus on a brand new work over the next few weeks in the Djerassi Resident Artist Program. This program is amazing; I feel very supported and it’s great to finally have the headspace to focus on my new Afro-Surreal Performance Suite.

This is right on the heels of some wonderful shine for BRING THE BEAT BACK.  In NYC, last night’s Genre Urban Arts Pride Pop Up at the Bowery Poetry Club was apparently OFF THE CHAIN, and I’m looking forward to the videos and photos from that.  (Huge thanks to all the NYC Tru Believers for pulling that one through!)  And in Chicago, we’re nearly done casting for our concert production run in September.

All of that to say, JUNE was truly a special month. Of course it wasn’t all sunny. A loved few loved ones lost some loved ones, and the news is still the news.  But from my Birthday to Pride, it’s really been quite something. Feeling very thankful and full and ready for more!"
