The Dance:
Brenda Way’s Walk Back the Cat, premiered in 2016, excavates the circuitous journey of the choreographic process and arrives in a world inspired by Thomas Hart Benton’s muscular and vital murals of American City Life in the 1930s.

Including visuals by photographer RJ Muna and video by Ian Winters, the work features a commissioned jazz-inspired score and live performance by Paul Dresher and musicians.

The “Zoom Lobby”

5:15pm PDT
Your Zoom theater date begins with you and your friends in an informal, social chat with mixologist, Tim Stookey of Stookey’s Club Moderne, leading you in the creation of the evening's specialty cocktail – The Aviation.

Your cocktail can be ordered and delivered, or, if you live further afield and already have the ingredients, you will receive a recipe.

5:45pm PDT
An intimate discussion of the work with composer Paul Dresher in conversation with choreographer Brenda Way.

Livestream

6pm PDT
Together, we’ll watch Walk Back the Cat, a metaphorical unwinding of the creative process set to original music by Paul Dresher, performed in 2016 at YBCA. Following the piece, join us for a virtual Q&A with Paul Dresher and choreographer Brenda Way.
