Professional male dancers needed for 2 projects with Oakland performance dates in June and July 2018. Three African American men needed to join the cast of "Hurricane," a dance-theater piece dramatizing key moments in the life of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, middleweight boxing champion who was incarcerated for 19 years for a murder he didn't commit. This project requires overall professional dance experience: contemporary, jazz and/or ballet skills necessary.  Also seeking male dancer to perform with 3 other top Bay Area dancers in a concert of new pieces in the contemporary dance mode. All rehearsals and performances for both projects are paid. Rehearsals will begin in January at the Sarah Berges Dance Studio in West Oakland.

Sarah Berges Dance is dedicated to the creation of groundbreaking, multidisciplinary works of dance theater that explore and reflect the human condition. We seek to bring the life-enhancing experience of movement to audiences of all strata, creating choreography that inspires, entertains, and draws people closer to dance as an expressive instrument. We strive for artistic excellence with every performance at the same time that we insist our productions enliven, inspire and entertain audiences of varied age, cultural background, and dance experience.
