Featuring ODC Theater Resident Artists Lisa Wymore and Sheldon Smith, this physical theater work continues the company’s ongoing interest in creating technologically augmented live performance. Six Degrees of Freedom follows the basic premise that a computer system has fallen asleep and begun to dream. Within that dream, the system anxiously confronts an unusual demand by an unforeseen force, that it must construct an evening-length dance performance. The finished result is a witty assemblage of physical theater, video projections and digital ephemera that all work together to reveal the mind of a machine trying to learn what it means to be human.
