2024 RENTALS DISCOUNT INITIATIVE AWARDS
Up to 14 weeks of rentals at ODC Theater will be awarded grants for artistic activity at either 50% or 100% off of the space cost. Up to 7 weeks are available at each award tier. Additionally, 4 single-day rentals will be granted in 2024. Of the full weeks, up to 4 (Sunday-Thursday) are available for artists who wish to rehearse in the theater with or without technical support but do not plan to have a public event. The remaining 10 weeks (Tuesday-Sunday) will be allocated to projects culminating in a publicly ticketed event.

Zaquia Mahler Salinas
Zaquia Mahler Salinas (she/her), is the Director and Co-Founder of San Diego based movement arts organization, DISCO RIOT. She wears many hats: administrator, producer, choreographer, performer, and educator. Her art and life practice is grounded in cultivating responsiveness to the present moment, justice, community building, and the magic of collaboration.
Gabriele Christian
Gabriele Christian is an Oakland-based conceptual artist and descendent of stolen folk experimenting within somatic practices, language, performance composition, video production and community arts facilitation to locate and center BlaQ (Black and Queer) experience, vernaculars and aesthetics as wellsprings for radical futurity. They are a founding member of BlaQ-led performance and land projects: &theruptureisnow; OYSTERKNIFE; and blaQyard.

Hope Mohr (she/her) is an artist and advocate. www.hopemohr.org
Bhumi B Patel
Movement artist and writer Bhumi B Patel directs pateldanceworks and is a queer, desi, home-seeker, and science fiction choreographer (she/they). She has presented her choreographic work in the Bay Area, Manoa (Hawai’i), Los Angeles, and Columbus (Ohio). Bhumi is a 2022-2023 Dance/USA Fellow and a 2023 YBCA 100 Honoree.
ODC Theater 2024 Resident Curator Maurya Kerr
Maurya Kerr is a Bay Area-based artist, poet, educator, and the artistic director of tinypistol. Much of her work—across the disciplines of movement, language, and film—is focused on Black and brown people reclaiming their birthright to both wonderment and the quotidian. Maurya was a member of Alonzo King LINES Ballet for twelve years, an ODC artist-in-residence from 2015 to 2018, and holds an MFA in dance from Hollins University. Maurya's poetry has been nominated for a Pushcart prize and appears or is forthcoming in multiple journals, including Magma Poetry, Tupelo Quarterly, and Inverted Syntax, and is anthologized in The Future of Black: Afrofuturism, Black Comics, and Superhero Poetry. Maurya’s work was recently honored as a runner-up in the 2021 Tom Howard/Margaret Reid Poetry Contest, and chosen by Jericho Brown as a runner-up in Southern Humanities Review’s 2021 Auburn Witness Poetry Prize. She was a 2021/22 UC Berkeley ARC (Arts Research Center) Poetry & the Senses Fellow, and her first chapbook, MUTTOLOGY, is forthcoming with Harbor Editions in 2023.
