  • Step Onscreen/Uncertain Weather
    Ages 8-18
    Film premiere: May 15, 2021
    No audition required

A weekly class designed to cultivate performance skills, camera presence, and an immersive theatrical experience from home, enrollment in Step Onscreen includes participation in the December Showcase and the reimagining of Uncertain Weather, our annual school production, for film. Uncertain Weather features student performers of different ages in a variety of dance styles. Directed and choreographed by School Director and ODC/Dance Associate Choreographer Kimi Okada, with additional guest choreographers, Lindsay Leonard and Kristin Damrow, class time is devoted to the creation, rehearsal, and filming of choreography — strict attendance is required! Should ODC be able to open to live in-person classes, there will be the option (not required) for students to participate in special filmed sessions at ODC with our professional production team. Additional rehearsals will be scheduled based on City allowances (dates TBA). Students must be enrolled in any concurrent ODC Youth & Teen Program technique class to participate.

  • Ballet Performance | Ages 13-18

Ballet's long tradition is rich in a history that guides its performing aesthetic of today. In this weekly class, we will play with ideas from the past as well as acting improvisation exercises to help develop an ownership of a classical ballet presence onstage. Special attention will be on how to access the body to bring an emotional depth and spirit to the performance quality of the aspiring classical ballet dancer. Students will learn traditional repertoire, new choreography and be encouraged to play with finding their own choreographic voices. This class is open to all ballet students enrolled in Ballet 3 (2nd year) and higher.

Ballet Performance | Wed 5:45–7:15 PM

    Tuition: Year-Long Enrollment (30 Weeks) | $700

Members of the Dance Jam perform work by the choreographers of our professional company, ODC/Dance (Brenda Way, KT Nelson, and Kimi Okada), as well as renowned guest choreographers who have included; Katie Faulkner, Robert Dekkers, D. Montalvo, Chuck Wilt, Erica Chong Shuch, and Scott Wells.
