Y-Exchange is a monthly series of presentations about performing arts, technology, science and how they intersect and inform one another. This event is open to the public and admission is free.

This month, we are proud to present Kathy High & Vidhu Aggarwal!

Kathy High (USA) is an interdisciplinary artist / educator who collaborates with scientists, and considers living systems, animal sentience, and the ethical dilemmas of biotechnology and medical industries. She produces photographs, films, sculpture and installations posing queer and feminist questions into areas of bio-science that have been exhibited across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia. High is Head and Professor of New Media in Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. She is a supporter of community DIY science and ecological art practices and is the project coordinator for a non-profit urban environmental center, NATURE Lab. Among many honors, she is the recipient of fellowships and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, and Guggenheim Foundation.

Vidhu Aggarwal’s poetry and multimedia practices engage with world-building, video, and graphic media, drawing mythic schemas from popular culture and ancient texts. Her poetry book, The Trouble with Humpadori (2016), imagines a cosmic mythological space for marginalized transnational subjects. Avatara, a chapbook from Portable @Yo-Yo Labs Press, is situated in a post-apocalyptic gaming world where A.I.’s play at being gods. She has published in the Boston Review, Black Warrior Review, Aster(ix) Journal, Poemelon, Leonardo, among other journals. She is currently engaging in “cloud poetics” practice,  as a way of thinking about personal, collective, and digital archives. A Djerassi resident and Kundiman fellow, she teaches at Rollins College.

Y-Exchange is Co-Presented by Kinetech Arts, ODC Theater and The Djerassi Resident Artists Program.

* Y-Exchange will be recorded. You are invited to join with your video on or to turn it off if preferred.
