School Policies

  • Registration Information/Beyond the Classroom Registration Fee

ODC is dedicated to the lifecycle of the artistic process and aims to inspire audiences, cultivate artists, engage community, and foster diversity and inclusion through dance. ODC believes that just as the benefits of a dance class extend beyond the classroom, so does the learning. A $65 Beyond the Classroom Registration Fee is charged at the time of enrollment to each student to provide additional opportunities to cultivate the complete dancer. This fee helps cover administrative costs, health & safety procedures, and teacher training sessions. Depending on the student’s class and level, this fee will also help cover in-house field trips, student evaluations, props and materials for classroom use, production costs for performance opportunities, additional rehearsals, and special programming throughout the school year. The $65 Beyond the Classroom Registration Fee also includes a student ticket to any ODC School production (including The Velveteen Rabbit). Register early and save! ODC will waive the annual registration fee to those who register for 2026-2027 classes by June 30, 2026.

ODC offers a 10% tuition discount to students enrolled in multiple classes in a session, or to siblings who enroll simultaneously. Registration is conducted on a first come, first serve basis. Please register early, as many classes fill up and we are not able to adjust class capacity. Bring a friend and save! ODC will waive the annual registration fee for returning families who refer new students, for both families.

To register, please contact the ODC Youth & Teen Program administrative staff directly at registration@odc.dance, call 415-549-8520, or text 707-653-5541.

Fall, Spring, & Academic Year-Long Program

Students in the Young Creative Program (ages 2-7) can enroll in classes based on age and interest, and will register for the fall session, then again for the spring session. Please note that classes are enrolled on a first come, first serve basis for both sessions, and students are not automatically re-enrolled for Young Creative classes in the spring session. The complete spring schedule will be announced later this fall, with enrollment opening for spring on November 1, 2026. Classes in the Youth & Teen Program (ages 8-18) are cumulative and yearlong over the course of the academic school year. Students remain with the same class and level for both the fall and spring sessions. Cross-training in different dance modalities is highly encouraged in our program for our students to develop their full dance potential.

  • Absences

Class attendance is crucial for a successful experience at ODC School. If an extenuating circumstance, injury, or sensitive personal matter arises, please contact the ODC School Youth & Teen Program administrative staff directly. To report an absence or other issue, please email registration@odc.dance or text 707-653-5541.

  • Payment Plans

For classes that require academic year-long enrollment, the ODC Youth & Teen Program offers two types of payment plans. A current credit card must be provided and stored on-file in order to participate.

    • Two-Payment Plan: first payment due at time of registration, second payment due January 15, 2027 (5% service fee added to tuition*).
    • Nine-Payment Plan: first payment due at time of registration, with eight payments automatically charged on the 15th of every month from October, 2026 through May, 2027 (10% service fee added to tuition*).
*Payment plan service fees are capped at $180 per student.

  • Refunds & Mid-Year Withdrawal

There are no refunds. Please select classes carefully! If a student becomes ill, injured, or is otherwise unable to remain in the program, an online withdrawal form must be completed. Please contact school staff to discuss options and to request a withdrawal form. The remaining tuition amount will be credited to your ODC account for future use. This credit does not expire and can be used in any program.

  • Trial Classes

Prospective students may do a trial class at the beginning of the fall or spring sessions, space permitting. Trial classes are subject to availability and must be arranged in advance with ODC School staff. The fee for a trial class is $35. Tuition will be prorated starting the following class if the family decides to move forward with registration. Please contact the school at registration@odc.dance within 24 hours of a trial class to confirm your space. After 24 hours, your space in the class will not be held.

  • Parent Guardian Observation Days

Guardian observation days are only available on designated days which are scheduled in advance by ODC staff and faculty. Observations are announced via email notification in the weeks prior to the set date for each class, and usually take place toward the end of the fall and spring sessions.

  • Student Conduct

Students must arrive promptly for class, wearing proper attire, and be prepared, respectful, and eager to learn. Any form of inappropriate behavior will jeopardize participation in the Youth & Teen Program

  • Arts Access Scholarship Information

Each year, ODC school aims to make dance accessible to everyone in the community. We fundraise throughout the year to offer scholarships to a large number of students in our program. Please help us by donating to the scholarship fund at odc.dance/scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to students based on financial need, motivation, and commitment. Scholarships are available to students (ages 8+) who seek to enroll for the academic year-long program. Scholarship students are held to a high expectation of commitment, attendance, and behavior. Inconsistent attendance will jeopardize a student’s scholarship status. Scholarship information and applications are available on our website at odc.dance/youth&teen or by contacting registration@odc.dance. Scholarship information and applications are available here.

    Deadline for scholarship application submission:
    Fall 2026, August 28, 2026
    Summer 2027: May 30, 2027.

  • Parent Advisory Group

Land Acknowledgement

ODC is on the ancestral lands of the Ramaytush People in Yelamu. We pay respects to elders past and present, who are still here and part of our community. We recognize that regenerative land management is not new, but is a continuation of practices from Native cultures and from our own ancestors. It is our responsibility to steward the land with care, as our elders did before us.
