Audition Series with The Caroline Liviakis Dance Company

The ODC School Audition Series brings dancers and choreographers together in a class context. Dancers may use class cards or pay a $15 drop-in fee ($1 cash discount). Come early to fill out information forms.
The Caroline Liviakis Dance Company brings forth a bold, new vision to concert dance. Caroline Liviakis’ choreography merges expressive theatricality and technical excellence with a commitment to challenging and invigorating movement that simultaneously emphasizes audience connectivity and the use of facial expressions. She creates works that unite commercial and concert dance resulting in pieces that are both deliciously entertaining and deeply thought-provoking. The movement aesthetic of Liviakis involves a fluid combination of elements from contemporary, hip-hop, musical theater, modern, ballet, African, Irish, and what yet fits classification. This stylistic explosion lets audiences feast on a new, exciting movement vocabulary and gives dancers the invigorating challenge of mastering elements of all of these styles simultaneously. Caroline Liviakis’ main goals as a choreographer and company director are to innovate and expand facial and theatrical work in dance, create truly thought-provoking and logically founded work, and inspire enthusiastic involvement in live dance performance from untapped audiences.

The Caroline Liviakis Dance Company needs dancers for the following projects:
Caroline Liviakis Dance Company Evening-Length Debut: May 11th 12th 8pm SAFEhouse Arts (145 Eddy St.). Approximately 1 hr of work split into 7 pieces
Short Dance Film:A short (5 min) dance film to be submitted to various dance film festivals in S.F. and L.A.
Various dance festival and collegiate guest artist performances
All positions are paid.

Regular rehearsals are at SAFEhouse Arts (1 Grove St. and 145 Eddy St. SF)
Wednesday afternoons/evenings
Saturdays and Sundays (variable times)
Rehearsals for solos/duets/featured parts might be on other days depending on studio and dancer availability
We have both ‘company dancer’ and ‘student mentee’ positions
All positions (company dancers and student mentees) are paid. Exact amounts will vary between individuals and will be presented as an offer after the audition
What were are looking for:
Captivating performers: those with commanding stage presence and those who can use facial expressions while dancing
Dancers with high technical skill and precision
Dancers with an expansive range of style capabilities (especially contemporary, hip-hop, modern, musical theater, and ballet)
Dancers with flexible schedules for variable rehearsal times and days
4-6 Females, 1 Male
