Teach at ODC School

Since ODC Dance Commons opened in 2005, our faculty has been essential to our thriving dance community. The diversity and expertise of our teachers enrich our curriculum, and contribute to our expansive program. We celebrate both our longstanding, and newer ODC and Rhythm & Motion faculty members. While each class and instructor are unique, all faculty share a passion to impart their knowledge in a place that values accessibility, joy, and community.

Requisites to become a teacher at the ODC School:

  • Deep knowledge of the cultural history and practices of the dance genre.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a teacher.
  • Ability to connect with students of all levels in a way that is respectful, supportive, and encouraging without sacrificing high standards and expectations in the classroom.
  • Commitment to a community that values and respects all forms of dance.

To apply, email school@odc.dance with a resume and cover letter. Please include a proposed class description, and format of the class (e.g., length of class, finite time period, ongoing, workshop, etc.). Your proposal will be reviewed by ODC School Director Kimi Okada and Director of School Programming Carlos Venturo. Potential Ballet faculty will also be reviewed by Chris Lam, Ballet Program Director. Prospective Health Program offerings will be reviewed by Rachel Recinos Abair, Health Initiatives Program Director. Please get in touch with us if you have recommendations for a particular teacher or specific dance form you would like to see at ODC School.

For inquiries regarding teaching as part of the Rhythm & Motion Dance Program at the ODC Dance Commons, please contact the Director of Rhythm & Motion, Dudley Flores, at info@rhythmandmotion.com.

We offer Assistant positions within our Youth & Teen Program for dancers wishing to build their experience, assisting classes taught by seasoned Faculty members. To apply, email school@odc.dance with your resume and cover letter.

For substitute teachers, we entrust our experienced Faculty to recommend appropriate subs for their classes, and attest to their skillset, professionalism, and parallel high-quality instruction. School staff may also make recommendations to teachers and introduce someone new to the sub roster.

Both Assistants and Substitutes must follow the same onboarding procedures as any regular Faculty.
