Mary Carbonara began teaching dance in the Bay Area in 1988 following years of technical and pedagogical training from master teacher Lynn Simonson in New York City. Mary has taught locally, nationally, and internationally, including New York, Chicago, Washington, Tallahassee, Tokyo, and Kolkata. She has taught on the faculties of San Francisco Ballet School, East Carolina University, American Conservatory Theater, Bates Dance Festival, San Jose State University, UC Davis, Saint Mary’s College, Mills College, ODC School, LINES Dance Center, and Shawl Anderson. Mary is the Founder and Artistic Director of Mary Carbonara Dances, and a former member of Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, Robert Moses KIN, Project Bandaloop, and Liss Fain Dance. She is co-founder with Robert Moses of Studio 200 and is the Director of Community Programs at Alonzo King LINES Ballet and has been a successful performing arts public relations consultant for over 25 years.
