Meet the Artist. The Work. The Process.
Join a lively conversation between ODC Theater Resident Artist, Lauren Simpson, and collaborators Celeste Butler (Textile and Fiber Artist) and Nick Miller (Painter), Galen Rogers (Dancer), and Dereck Higgins (Musician) as they give a glimpse into the process of their works in the liminal times and spaces between performances.
ODC Theater Resident Artist Lauren Simpson created Moving Truck, a performance for the front lawns of Omaha residents during the Fall months of 2020; it was featured in the Kennedy Center’s Arts Across America. From 2014-2019 she and Jenny Stulberg created a large body of work called Still Life Dances. Lauren is an artist in residence at ODC Theater and a recipient of the Drew Billings Grant through Amplify Arts, Omaha. Ed.M. Harvard University, M.F.A. University of Colorado-Boulder.
Lauren recently organized the gallery installation and performance project, Celestial Real Estate Agency. It investigated visual, felt, and sound-based interpretations of sunlight. Five artists responded to one another’s work in a cumulative sequence of prompts and responses. Celestial Real Estate deals in the proprietorship of intangible services such as ultraviolet, visible, and infrared portions of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum or the feeling of heat in your body.
