Hyper-dynamic movement defined by musicality and rhythm allows the body to experience the challenges and sensations of various qualities. Grounded in floor-work and highly physical phrase work this technique places emphasis on momentum and attack of the movement. LAJAMARTIN aim to create an environment where the individual and group can simultaneously live in the moment and share their experience together.
LAJAMARTIN physical dance theatre was co-founded in 2017 by Laja Field (SLC, UT) and Martin Durov (Slovakia) as a vessel for live performance. The two have been traveling to perform, teach and create work throughout the U.S. and EU. Their work has been presented at Gibney Dance, WestFest, DANCE NOW Joeís Pub Festival, SouthSide Arts and Music Festival, BRINE, Austin Dance Festival, internationally at Newcastle College, England, GIF 4 in Brussels, the b12 festival in Berlin and the äibenik Dance Festival in Croatia. As invited guests LAJAMARTIN has created work for the J.L Bella Conservatory in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, festival LINK by SALT contemporary dance, BYU CDT, the Anton Bruckner International School in Linz, MOVE NYC young professionalís program and the inaugural S.W.E.AT college program in NYC. LAJAMARTIN have also had the pleasure of teaching for Gibney Dance Center, Abraham in Motion, Johannes Wielandís company at the Staatstheater Kassel, NYU Tisch, CalArts, CSULB, UCLA, the University of Utah, BYU, DeSales University, Muhlenberg College, Early Mosleyís Institute of the Arts, Newcastle College, Artist Commons in Brussels, the private Conservatory in Liptovsky Hradok, Slovakia, Bad Lemons in Munich, Dance City in England, Contemporary Prostor Pro Tanec in Prague and the b12 festival in Berlin.
