Since 1971, ODC has celebrated a love of movement, an abiding belief in the healing and stimulating power of art, and a deep commitment to an engaged and inspired community. The generosity of individual donors has enabled ODC to respond to the dynamic needs -- and potential -- of the San Francisco Bay Area arts ecosystem.
- ODC School serves 16,000 students (age 2-90+) annually, offering instruction in more than 30 genres of dance for movers of all ages and skill levels.
- ODC’s fee-free Healthy Dancers’ Clinic, Parkinson’s Dance Community, and senior offerings round out ODC’s commitment to community wellness through movement.
- The organization’s self-subsidized Arts Access Program removes financial barriers to participation. In 2024, 2,715 community members benefited from reduced class fees and performance tickets totalling $139,406 in subsidy.
- ODC has provided more than 300,000 hours of discounted space to artists and community members and directly invested in more than 12,000 artists.
- As one of the few remaining presenters, ODC annually invests $650,000 in commissioning and producing dance on the West Coast.
ODC’s artistic achievement has been internationally recognized and has shaped the field of contemporary dance.
