The May Showcase marks the end of the school year for the ODC School Youth & Teen Program, with selected classes performing for family and friends. This spring, the celebration goes virtual! Hosted live by ODC School Director Kimi Okada and Youth & Teen Program Manager Carlos Venturo, with special guests, this event will feature pre-recorded performances from our experience with online classes.
For the past two months, our faculty and students have explored the many possibilities of learning dance from home with dedication and resilience. The Virtual May Showcase is a tribute to the tenacity of the ODC community moving forward and adapting to the times.
This virtual performance is a labor of love, and portrays the effort of our vast community including staff, faculty, parents, students, production team, and the many helping hands at ODC, and beyond. In just a few weeks, we went from dancing together in our studios, to becoming frequent zoom users, some of us even venturing into video production and editing, doing whatever it took to help us move our passion for dance forward during these quickly changing times. We also had to make many sacrifices in the editing room as we sorted through hours of video footage. Whether your class and dancer is participating or not, we hope you will join us, support us, and cheer us on as a part of our school. This virtual showcase is our first effort of this nature, and we have continued to learn many lessons along the way.
We are committed to keep developing our virtual presence as we include many more of our students, classes and programs in the future. Enjoy the show!
