In 2018, Mama Celeste (they/them) co-founded Oaklash, the Bay Area’s first and only festival of drag and queer performance. Since then, they have helped grow this one-day event into a sustainable nonprofit arts organization that provides opportunities, resources, and mentorship to emerging queer and trans artists year-round. Celeste is the alter-ego of Grey Tartaglione, an Oakland-based artist, DJ, performer, and event producer who also works as the Director of Programs at CounterPulse. Often regarded as a hot cheesy mess, they have performed nationally at venues in New York, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, Nevada, and all across California.
About ODC/Dance
Founded in 1971 by Artistic Director Brenda Way, ODC/Dance was one of the first American companies to incorporate a post-modern sensibility (an appreciation for pedestrian movement) into a virtuosic contemporary dance technique and to commit major resources to interdisciplinary collaboration and musical commissions for the repertory.
Arts Access Tickets
ODC offers a limited number of free and/or lower-cost Art Access tickets to every ODC presented performance. These additionally subsidized tickets, available on a first-come, first-serve basis, are reserved for those for whom price is a barrier.
